Pablo Picasso's Buste de femme de profil (Femme écrivant) led the charge at the Sotheby's Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Sale, selling for 27.3 million, whilst Alberto Giacometti's beguiling bronze, Le Chat, achieved £12.6 million in front of the assembled crowd in the London saleroom. Other highlights included Monet's atmostpheric seascape La Méditerranée par vent de mistral, which sold for £7.1 million in its auction debut. The sale reached a total of £87.5 million.
