Launch Slideshow

As Chef Patron of Osteria Francescana, the World’s Best Restaurant of 2018, Massimo Bottura knows a thing or two about fine dining. Sotheby’s is excited to announce that Bottura can now add whisky bottler to his remarkable list of achievements. Master Distiller Richard Paterson of The Dalmore has collaborated with Bottura on the creation of a one-of-a-kind scotch whisky bottling, The Dalmore L’Anima Aged 49 Years. Benefitting Food For Soul – Bottura’s non-profit organization – the bottling will be offered in an online auction running from 25 April to 9 May.

On 25 February, Bottura and Paterson, also known as “the nose,” revealed this rare bottling at Sotheby’s New York, where art from Sotheby’s Contemporary Curated auction was on view. Bottura prepared a decadent dinner in which each of six courses was paired with The Dalmore whisky. Menu highlights included freshwater eel served with Campanine apples, polenta and onion; venison loin cooked in a carbon crust; and rice with pumpkin, orange, a sprinkling of Amaretti cookies and toasted almonds over a civet of wild hare. Ahead, view images from the evening which concluded with a special tasting of Paterson’s and Bottura’s expertly crafted single malt whisky. –Stephanie Sporn
