One of the joys of working on the Collections sale is deciding the overall aesthetic for the auction. In some ways this is dictated by where we shoot the pieces in the sale – in this instance, we chose the interiors of the Master Shipwright’s House in Deptford, which was once the residence of the Master Shipwright for this important naval dockyard on the Thames. It is a wonderfully atmospheric Queen Anne building that is full of texture, with wonderfully weathered walls and surfaces. The spacious rooms have a time-worn English country house atmosphere, that instantly accommodates the variety of styles, periods and designs within the Collections sale. – Thomas Williams
