The evening of 11 May at Sotheby’s was all about the transformative power of art. Ahead of this week’s Impressionist and Modern Art and Contemporary Art auctions, specialists Simon Shaw and Grégoire Billault hosted a bespoke dinner and performance that continued Sotheby’s season-long celebration of fearless creators. Culinary collective Ghetto Gastro translated the energy of Picasso, Basquiat and other artists into five incredible dishes. Between an entrée inspired by Jackson Pollock and a dessert that channeled “the audacity” of David Hammons, guests experienced an original performance by musicians and dancers from National Sawdust, the Brooklyn venue dedicated to fostering new talent. For those who truly appreciated what it means to be fearless, there was much food for thought. Click ahead for images.
