On 27 July Sotheby’s welcomed guests to an evening celebrating Hungry Heart, a three-day selling exhibition by Brooklyn-based artist Andrew Brischler. Hosted by David Rothschild, Sotheby’s Vice President, Sales Director, Contemporary Art, the event was held in partnership with Sentient Jet at the verdant Madoo Conservancy. A charming garden and exhibition space in Sagaponack, Madoo was the ideal setting to view Brischer’s nine new colorful works on display. “Sotheby’s is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Andrew Brischler, an artist whose work is highly meticulous, laborious and innovative, while simultaneously charged with symbolism and personal nostalgia,” Rothschild said. “This most recent body of work brings into play elements from 20th-century pop culture, namely music and film, and through his text-based media mixed with some minute abstraction, Andrew successfully puts his own personal spin on how we look at and digest these cultural classics.” Click ahead to view images from the evening. –Stephanie Sporn
