On 19 October Sotheby’s and Bang & Olufsen celebrated the centennial of De Stijl with the opening of Iconoplastic: 100 Years of De Stijl, a selling exhibition of art and design linked to the groundbreaking Modernist movement. The theme of elegant simplicity was given a sonic dimension through Bang & Olufsen’s modular BEOSound Shape speakers installed alongside works by Richard Pettibone, Sol LeWitt and Kenneth Noland. Among the guests was Bang & Olufsen’s Travis McMichael who curated a modern-era playlist featuring Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller and other greats of jazz and swing. Click ahead for images from an evening of innovative art and design, and check out the accompanying Iconoplastic video, sponsored by Bang & Olufsen.
