On 19 October Sotheby’s and Bang & Olufsen celebrated the centennial of De Stijl with the opening of Iconoplastic: 100 Years of De Stijl, a selling exhibition of art and design linked to the groundbreaking Modernist movement. The theme of elegant simplicity was given a sonic dimension through Bang & Olufsen’s modular BEOSound Shape speakers installed alongside works by Richard Pettibone, Sol LeWitt and Kenneth Noland. Among the guests was Bang & Olufsen’s Travis McMichael who curated a modern-era playlist featuring Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller and other greats of jazz and swing.
