Behind the Scenes: Americana Week at Sotheby’s

Launch Slideshow

Our team has been busy installing 1,200 lots of American furniture, folk art, silver and more ahead of Americana Week. We also welcomed David Korins, the set designer for the Tony Award-winning musical Hamilton, who has collaborated with Sotheby’s on the exhibition design. Korins has created a system of red, white and blue intersecting cords that “represent the weaving together of each individual thread of fabric in the American flag,” Korins explains. “My design for the Americana Week exhibition explores a theme of a thousand individual threads and stories woven together to tell one collective American story.” Click ahead for a behind the scenes look, and be sure to visit Sotheby’s galleries during Americana Week, 11–20 January.
