This December, Sotheby’s is honoured to present a century of important works by Israeli and international artists, including Marc Chagall's Juif à la Thora. This oil is based on a 1947 drawing, completed in the aftermath of the Second World War, showing a Jew rising above the village, holding fast to the Torah, a survivor against all odds. Also on offer are twelve works from the Ben Uri Gallery and Museum in London, which feature rare pieces by Moshe Castel and Reuven Rubin's Self-Portrait from the mid-1930s.
