June–September 2026

A contemporary reimagining of an 18th‑century tradition, the Summer Season unfolds globally as a dynamic program of world‑class exhibitions, major auctions and events, bringing people, places and ideas together across Sotheby’s international locations.

In London, the Summer Sales open in June with a landmark exhibition and auction from the renowned Lewis Collection — a testament to the enduring power of portraiture. Assembled by Joe Lewis, the collection brings together museum‑calibre works by artists including Amedeo Modigliani, Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Francis Bacon, Gustave Caillebotte and Lucian Freud, many rarely seen on the market, reflecting a defining exploration of modern figurative painting. In July and August, attention turns to presentations of British‑Moroccan and South Asian art.

In New York, the season is anchored by a landmark exhibition “250 Years of American Arts & Culture", coinciding with America's 250th anniversary. Further exhibitions span from the prehistoric to the present day, from dinosaur fossils and space‑age artifacts for Geek Week to iconic memorabilia in Sports Week. Throughout the season, the new fine‑dining destination Marcel, 945 Madison will spotlight American creators.
