Masterpieces of Chinese Jade from the Woolf Collection

Masterpieces of Chinese Jade from the Woolf Collection

Sotheby’s is delighted to present an exhibition of imperial jades from the renowned Woolf Collection. Assembled by the celebrated film producer Sir John Woolf (1913-1999) from the early 1950s onwards, this fine collection of Ming and Qing jades is widely considered to be one of the greatest ever formed. First exhibited in part at Sotheby’s London in November 2013, the Woolf Collection remains, more than a decade later, a magnificent assemblage worthy of its acclaim.

Highlights of this exhibition include a very rare and important white jade and cloisonne enamel ‘ram’ teapot and cover, a large green-jade water buffalo, formerly on loan to the British Museum, London, and an imperially inscribed white jade ruyi sceptre.
