12 November 2019 – March 2020 | New York | London | Online

S otheby’s is honored to present a remarkable collection of fine art, works of art, and jewelry from an esteemed American Private Collection. An emphasis on beauty and a keen eye for quality brings together this diverse group of works, from the romantic and atmospheric Yves-Marie in the Rain by David Hockney to the boldly vivacious Number 38 by Morris Louis to exceptional works by Milton Avery, Alex Katz, William de Kooning, Joan Miró, Marc Chagall, and Kees van Dongen. These pieces and others from the Collection will be featured in Sotheby’s Impressionist and Modern Art Evening and Day Sales on November 12th and 13th and the Contemporary Art Evening and Day sales on November 14th and 15th.

In addition to these outstanding works, the collection is made up of a Monumental Silver-Gilt and Hardstone-Set Kovsh and Ladle by Mikhail Tarasov and a group of splendid and glamorous jewels, including classics from Van Cleef & Arpels, Adler Jewelers, and Marcus & Co. Jewels by these makers and others—most notedly a stunning platinum and diamond ring—will be offered in Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels sale this December.
