Alongside the TASCHEN at Sotheby’s showcase this season, we invite you to join us at Sotheby’s Story Café as we present an exclusive exhibition of TASCHEN’s latest edition, Dog Song, a new project by celebrated American artist Walton Ford.

Inspired by David Bowie and Iggy Pop’s time as flat mates in West Berlin during the 1970s, Dog Song follows two musical hounds, David and Jimmy, as they roam the city in search of inspiration. While the bookish David gravitates towards bookshops and recording studios, the mischievous Jimmy prowls backstreets and bars, embarking on a series of scrappy, surreal misadventures against the backdrop of pre-unification Berlin.

Combining lavish illustrations, dark humor, and meticulous period detail, Ford brings this canine underworld to life through his distinctive visual storytelling. Drawing in part on classic animal tales such as Beatrix Potter’s, Dog Song balances slapstick and poetry in an evocative portrait of creativity, friendship, and life in 1970s Berlin.

The exhibition at Sotheby’s Story Café offers an exclusive preview of the project, featuring the complete set of Walton Ford’s loose-leaf pages from the limited Collector’s Edition.
