The exhibition Young Rembrandt 1624-1634 is the first major exhibition exclusively devoted to the early work of Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn (1606-1669). Young Rembrandt allows visitors to look over the young painter’s shoulder and see how his talent developed and flourished. Almost 400 years after their creation works produced in Leiden by the now internationally famous master return to the city of his birth. The exhibition consists of approximately 40 paintings, 120 etchings and 20 drawings. Apart from work by Rembrandt there is also work by, amongst others, Lievens, Lastman and Van Swanenburg. The exhibition has been organised in collaboration with the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, one of the leading museums in the United Kingdom.
