I n Autumn, Sotheby’s Hong Kong will present The Marvellous Leroy Collection, one of the most comprehensive Leroy collections Sotheby’s has offered, comprising of 313 lots and estimated at HKD21 million/ USD2.7 million.
This extraordinary offering of Leroy is amassed over 3 decades of dedicated and meticulous collecting through reputable European and Hong Kong wine merchants and auction houses. The wine collector, an avid wine lover, is one of the earliest advocates of Madam Lalou Bize Leroy in Asia. The sale offers a great range of wines from Domaine Leroy, Maison Leroy, and Domaine d’Auvenay. Highlights include 131 lots of Domaine Leroy, of which 43 lots are from the famed Musigny, 24 lots from Domaine d’Auvenay including the first vintage 1989 Puligny Montrachet Folatières, and Musigny from Roumier and Mugnier.

All the fabulous Domaine Leroy Grands Crus from the Côte de Nuits are here, vying for your attention in a phenomenal range of vintages. You may wish to keep some further, as they age with splendour, but I would be tempted to start ‘comparing and contrasting’ at the earliest possible moment.
The Collector
This marvellous collection of wines was put together by a private Asian collector, who amassed this cellar over 3 decades. He is an avid wine lover and one of the earliest collectors of Leroy in Asia.
The Wines
The wine collector purchased wines on release from European and Hong Kong wine merchants, and through reputable auction houses. Part of a much larger collection.
The Cellar
The wines have been stored in a professional cellar in Hong Kong, with consistent cold and humid cellar conditions, perfect for long-term ageing of fine wine.

All wines are inspected by Sotheby’s Hong Kong Specialists in Crown Wine Cellars Hong Kong.

Lalou Bize-Leroy is a force to be reckoned with in Burgundy. Brought up in wine, she developed firm principles and equally firm convictions. For her, reducing yields is a religion and biodynamic viticultural methods the route to quality and longevity. No destemming and long vattings add to the almost essence-like intensity of the wines. Their deep, emphatic style is a reflection of the commitment and personality of Lalou Bize-Leroy. These wines hardly seem to age - they stay suspended in time. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
