S otheby’s is honored to host this benefit auction on behalf of the Queens Museum in conjunction with the Queens Museum’s 2025 Gala, honoring Mickalene Thomas, Lorraine Chambers Lewis and Community Champion Award recipient, Marshall, Inc.

The Queens Museum’s 2025 Gala Auction includes more than 10 exceptional works from pre-eminent artists and the world's leading galleries. Lots include paintings and more by artists such as Aliza Nisenbaum, Talia Levitt, Emilie Gossiaux, Mario Joyce, Dominic Chambers, Katherina Olschbaur and Adrian Armstrong.

The live auction will be held at the Queens Museum’s 2025 Gala on Thursday, May 8. Bidders unable to attend in person will be able to submit absentee and phone bids, if registered with dev@queensmuseum.org by May 6. 

Please note the online auction has a 10% buyer’s premium, which will be added to the final hammer price of each sold work. The premium allows the Queens Museum to retain more of the proceeds of the sale and offset administrative costs. Auction proceeds will support arts and educational programming, the museum's exhibitions, community engagement efforts and the development of the new Children's Museum at Queens Museum.

Live and online auction items will be on view at the Queens Museum beginning May 6, 2025.

Online Auction: April 24, 2025 11am ET – May 9, 3pm ET
Live Auction: May 8, 2025, approximately 8:45pm ET

The Queens Museum is dedicated to presenting high-quality arts and educational programming that celebrates New York's diversity, with a special focus on the residents of Queens—a uniquely international community. Their work honors the rich history of Queens site and reflects the diverse voices of our neighborhoods through an integrated program of exhibitions, educational initiatives, and public events. The Children’s Museum will be a multilingual intergenerational family learning space focused on art and culture.

The Queens Museum is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization.

Please note that while this auction is hosted on Sothebys.com, it is being administered by the Queens Museum, and all post-sale matters (inclusive of invoicing and property pickup/shipment) will be handled by the Queens Museum. As such, Sotheby’s will share the contact details for the winning bidders with the Queens Museum so that they may be in touch directly post-sale.
