“Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)” continues its global rampage. Hong Kong’s economy and people’s livelihoods have been hard-hit and the unemployment rate keeps rising, imposing heavy financial burdens on grassroots families and the underprivileged.
Po Leung Kuk, as one of the largest charitable organisations in Hong Kong, is committed to walk alongside with the people of Hong Kong by providing attentive and uninterrupted services throughout more than 300 units strategically located in Hong Kong. The launching of the “Boundless Compassion．Solidarity in Action” COVID-19 Response Programme has also provided timely support to the underprivileged so as to cushion their urgent needs during this difficult times. The Programme includes offering free food packs, hot meals and nutrition packs to the low-income or jobless needy and grassroots families; carrying out free Chinese medical consultation services and providing educational assistance for grassroots students. Over 160,000 service attendances have been benefitted so far.
Aiming at raising funds to keep up the efforts in combating this health crisis and support the post-pandemic works, Po Leung Kuk and Sotheby’s collaborate on the ‘Po Leung Kuk Charity Wine Online Auction – “Boundless Compassion ‧ Solidarity in Action”’, featuring an impressive variety of fine wine collections for benefactors to bid for a good cause. All proceeds from the wine auction will go directly to Po Leung Kuk to sustain its services for the people in need. Deepest gratitude also goes to Sotheby’s for their full support of the event and generosity in donating the buyers’ premiums.
