Finest and Rarest Wines 4 October 2022 • 10:00 AM HKT • Hong Kong

C omprising over 500 lots and estimated in excess of HK$21 million / US$2.7 million, the autumn edition of the Finest & Rarest Wines sale features an international line-up. Making its auction debut at Sothebys in Asia is the Primum Familae Vini Case & Passport, which represents truly one of the most exceptional experiences in the world of wine - 12 of the finest vintages produced by some of the world’s finest wine producing families from France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain; and the opportunity to visit each estate and enjoy lunch or dinner with a family member. The passport will never expire, and therefore these experiences can be redeemed at any point in future.

An outstanding cellar assembled by a wine aficionado who has developed an interest not just in Europe but across the world is highlighted by coveted bottles such as Echezeaux 2018 from Georges Roumier, Ermitage Cuvée Cathelin 1990 from Jean-Louis Chave and Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon 2014. Parcel quantities of rare and mature Burgundy Champagne include more than 60 bottles of Vosne Romanée Les Beaux Mont 1997 from Domaine Leroy and over 30 bottles of Krug Collection 1979.

Primum Familae Vini (PFV), is an international association of some of the world's finest wine producing families. Created in 1992, membership is by invitation only, with a maximum of 12 highly respected families contributing generations of expertise.

Currently, the world’s twelve Leading Families are: Marchesi Antinori (Tuscany), Baron Philippe de Rothschild (Bordeaux), Joseph Drouhin (Burgundy), Domaine Clarence Dillon (Bordeaux), Egon Müller Scharzhof (Mosel), Famille Hugel (Alsace), Pol Roger (Champagne), Famille Perrin (Rhône Valley), Symington Family Estates (Portugal), Tenuta San Guido (Tuscany), Familia Torres (Spain) and Vega Sicilia (Ribera del Duero).

The successful bidder for this lot, alongside the hand-crafted collection case containing 12 bottles (one each from a superlative vintage for every estate, engraved by hand with each family member’s signature), will have the rare opportunity to visit all the wineries listed above with a tailor-made program with visit and tasting along with a lunch or dinner hosted by a family member. This lot takes the form of a passport which grants entry to the 12 wineries. The passport holder can bring up to three guests (who must come at the same time as the passport holder).

Each year on average only two Special Passports are issued by the Primum Familae Vini to individual wine lovers who share their passion for fine wines.

The 12 experiences will take place at dates to be mutually agreed between the successful bidder and the respective wineries. Please note there is no time limit for booking these visits, so dates can be planned at leisure over the next few years.
