This ‘All-Star Edition’ warmup jacket was worn by LeBron James during the 2009 All-Star Weekend held February 13-15, 2009, at US Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona. 

James wore the jacket during pregame warm-ups for the 2009 NBA All-Star Game on February 15. Appearing in his fifth consecutive All-Star Game, he led the Eastern Conference with 20 points while adding 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Despite his efforts, the Eastern Conference fell to the Western Conference, 146–119.

The jacket was specially customized for the event, featuring James' name and number sewn on the right side and the Cleveland Cavaliers logo sewn on the left. A "5 Time All-Star" patch appears on the right sleeve, commemorating his four previous All-Star selections and marking his fifth appearance in the league's premier showcase.

The 2008–09 season proved to be a landmark campaign in James' career. At just 24 years old, he captured the first of his four NBA Most Valuable Player awards after averaging 28.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game while leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to a franchise-record 66 wins. By the time All-Star Weekend arrived in Phoenix, James had firmly established himself as one of the league's brightest stars and was beginning a run of dominance that would define the next decade of NBA basketball.

In his first seven seasons in the NBA, James led the Cavaliers to 50 or more wins on four separate occasions, including a franchise record 66-win season in 2008-09, collected two league MVPs, and led the Cavaliers to their first trip to the NBA Finals in 2007. However, LeBron and the Cavaliers would fail to bring a championship to Cleveland that year.

James’ move from his first NBA team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, to the Miami Heat in 2010 is considered one of the boldest free-agent decisions in sports history. After winning two NBA Championships in 2012 and 2013 for the Miami Heat, James returned to Cleveland. In 2016, he led the Cavaliers to their first NBA Championship, ending the city’s 52-year long professional sports title drought. After his 2020 Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers, he became the only player to win the NBA Finals MVP with three different teams.

James is a 22-time All Star, 4-time MVP, 4-time Finals MVP, 2004 Rookie of the Year, 13-time All-NBA 1st team, and a member of the 75th Anniversary Team. The NBA 75th Anniversary Team was selected by a blue-ribbon panel of players, coaches, general managers, and sportswriters who voted on the 75 Greatest Players in NBA History. Only 11 active players were selected for the team, including LeBron James.
