Presented in this lot is a remarkable jersey from Allen Iverson’s MVP season. This jersey is game worn and signed by Allen Iverson and photo matched by MeiGray to two separate contests during the 2000-01 NBA season, both of which Iverson scored over 45 points.

This jersey was first worn on February 13, 2001, when the 76ers hosted the Milwaukee Bucks. Iverson was magnificent, finishing with 49 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in a 107-104 Philadelphia victory. His 49 points accounted for nearly half of the team's total output, with the next highest scorer on the roster contributing just 17 points.

Just eleven days later, on February 24, 2001, Iverson donned this jersey again for a road contest against the Charlotte Hornets. He produced 47 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, and 2 steals in an 86-85 defeat. Despite the loss, Iverson accounted for more than half of Philadelphia's entire point total, delivering yet another performance of singular dominance within the span of a single fortnight. Across these two documented appearances, Iverson scored 96 combined points.

MVP SEASON

These two performances were far from outliers. The 2000-01 campaign represents the pinnacle of Allen Iverson's career and one of the most dominant individual seasons the NBA has ever witnessed. From the opening tip, Iverson propelled Philadelphia to a franchise-record 10-0 start and announced to the league that the Sixers were a force to be reckoned with.

Over the course of the regular season, Iverson averaged a then-career-high 31.1 points per game, claiming his second NBA scoring title, while simultaneously leading the league in steals at 2.5 per game. At just 6 feet tall and 165 pounds, he was named NBA Most Valuable Player, becoming the smallest player in league history to receive the honor, earning 93 of a possible 124 first-place votes. He earned an All-NBA First Team selection and was voted a starter for the All-Star Game, where he claimed MVP honors as well. The Sixers finished 56-26, the best record in the Eastern Conference, and entered the playoffs as the top seed.

THE PLAYOFFS AND THE FINALS 

Iverson carried that momentum deep into the postseason. Philadelphia eliminated the Indiana Pacers in the first round, outlasted a Vince Carter-led Toronto Raptors team in seven games, then dispatched the Milwaukee Bucks in another seven-game battle to reach the NBA Finals for the first time since their 1983 championship.

Waiting for them were the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers, led by Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal. In Game 1, Iverson scored 48 points, the highest total ever recorded in an NBA Finals debut, to stun the heavily favored Lakers 107-101 in what would be their only playoff loss that entire year. He went on to score 23, 35, 35, and 37 in the games that followed, and while Philadelphia ultimately fell short, Iverson had delivered a Finals performance that will never be forgotten.
