Neil Armstrong mentioned From the Earth to the Moon during a television broadcast from the Apollo 11 spacecraft on July 23, 1969, the day before he and his crew mates returned to Earth. "A hundred years ago, Jules Verne wrote a book about a voyage to the Moon. His spaceship, Columbia [sic], took off from Florida and landed in the Pacific Ocean after completing a trip to the Moon. It seems appropriate to us to share with you some of the reflections of the crew as the modern-day Columbia completes its rendezvous with the planet Earth and the same Pacific Ocean tomorrow."
With signatures from Apollo 11 Lunar Module Pilot (LMP) Buzz Aldrin and Apollo 17 Commander (CDR) Gene Cernan, the present lot is signed by crews from the first and last missions to walk on the Moon.
