A SHEET FOR CALCULATING RETURN FLIGHT DATA FOR APOLLO 11'S HISTORIC FLIGHT TO THE MOON

BUZZ ALDRIN's provenance letter reads:

"Accompanying this letter is a sheet labeled P37 Block Data from the Apollo 11 CSM Updates, a manual flown in the Command Module Columbia to the Moon during the first lunar landing mission during July 16 to 24, 1969.

The CSM Updates sheets provided us with formatted data pages to manually enter initial values and changes in operations and location data relayed to us from the Mission Control Center (MCC) during the mission. The sheets that accompany this letter relate to P37 block data.

The P37 Block Data page included grids that the crew could use in flight operations. P37 was a program in the Command Module Computer that calculated the burn needed to return us to Earth after leaving the Moon. The P37 requires four values: GETI, the specified time of ignition; the total velocity of the maneuver; the longitude of the landing point for splashdown; and the GET for the start of re-entry. This sheet could have been used for flight operations if necessary."
