Second edition of Niceron’s latin translation of La perspective curieuse.


Divided into four books, Thaumaturgus Opticus, focuses on perspective, catoptrics, and dioptrics.


Folio (260 x 240mm). Half-title, printer’s device to title, illustrated with engraved additional title and 50 full-page engraved plates, woodcut foliated initials, headpieces, and in-text diagrams; offsetting from engraved title to preceding leaf, a few marginal tears and stains, leaves lightly foxed, marginal toning. Contemporary calf, spine split in seven compartments with raised bands, spine gilt dated '1646', brown morocco gilt-lettering piece, edges speckled red; rebacked, worn, edges dust-soiled.
