This 1929 film was directed by Paul Fejos. It was Universal's first talking film with 2-strip Technicolor sequences, which appear in the finale. The cast includes Glenn Tryon, Evelyn Brent, Paul Porcasi, Robert Ellis, Merna Kennedy and Thomas E. Jackson It tells the story of an innocent young dancer in a Broadway show, who naively becomes involved in murder and illegal activities at the club where she works. Paul Fejos designed a camera crane specifically for this film, to enable him shoot every angle with fluid movement. The crane could travel at 600 feet per minute. This innovative piece of equipment was unusual for the time.
