Description

A DAY AT THE RACES. Albert Hirschfeld, 1937.

One Sheet poster, linen backed, unframed: 41 x 27 in. (104 x 69 cm)

Formerly from the collection of Martin Bridgewater, gifted to his son. Purchased in London, 1998

Reel Art, Great Posters from the Golden Age of the Silver Screen, Abbeville Press, 1988, p.168 and Film Posters of the 30s, Aurum Press Limited, 2003, p. 96

Exceptionally rare. This poster has only surfaced a few times.

This was the seventh Marx Brothers full-length film. It is a mad-cap story about trying to keep a sanatorium open using the hopeful winnings from a horse race, with the help of a vet posing as a doctor, a race horse owner and a handful of friends.
