A variant of this composition by Ciro Ferri, larger and painted on canvas, was formerly in the Spinola Collection, Genova.1
We are grateful to Francesco Petrucci for endorsing the attribution to Pietro da Cortona. He considers the work to be fully autograph and describes it as a small jewel, distinguished by its precious silvered copper support, and dates it to the artist's Florentine period, circa 1630.
