Introduced during the 1990s, Cartier’s Diabolo collection represented a more sculptural interpretation of the maison’s established dress-watch aesthetic. Defined by its rounded case, stylised gadroon lugs and prominent cabochon-set crown, the model departed from the geometric language of the Tank and Santos while retaining Cartier’s classical dial architecture and restrained proportions.

The present example is preserved in platinum and features a silvered guilloché dial with Roman numerals and blued steel hands. The softly rounded case profile and integrated deployant clasp reflect Cartier’s refined approach to precious-metal wristwatch design during the late twentieth century. With its understated monochromatic appearance and balanced proportions, the Diabolo remains one of the more discreet and elegant Cartier designs of the period.
