Designed by Andy Warhol and released in 1988, the present “Times/5” forms part of Movado’s Artist Series and represents one of the most unconventional wristwatch designs of the late twentieth century. Constructed as an articulated bracelet composed of five independent watch dials, the model combines photography, graphic design and horology within a single integrated object. Each dial displays a monochrome photographic view of Manhattan animated by vivid red hands, the only element of colour across the composition.

When assembled together, the five dials create a continuous visual sequence reflecting Warhol’s longstanding engagement with repetition, serial imagery and New York urban culture. The fragmented photographic arrangement recalls the grid-based structures and multiplication of images that characterised much of the artist’s work from the 1960s onwards, while simultaneously challenging the conventional form and function of the wristwatch itself.

Produced in a limited edition of 250 examples shortly after Warhol’s death in 1987, the “Times/5” remains among the most distinctive objects associated with the artist’s involvement in watch design. The present example, numbered 83/250, retains its complete five-watch bracelet configuration together with its original blackened steel finish, preserving the strongly graphic appearance characteristic of the model.
