Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Piaget became closely associated with highly sculptural bracelet watches combining textured gold work with hardstone dials. The present example reflects that approach particularly well, pairing an oval lapis lazuli dial with a broad 18k gold bracelet of trellis design. The deep blue dial contrasts strongly against the warm tones of the gold bracelet, while the integration of the case within the bracelet construction gives the watch the appearance of a continuous jewellery surface across the wrist. With a substantial gross weight of 168.7 grams, the present example exemplifies Piaget’s highly decorative bracelet watch production of the period.
