Description
The circular bases on three lion paw feet and chased and embossed with floral decoration, the ovoid stems issuing three branches supporting three acid-etched glass dishes (one centrepiece lacking dishes), the whole surmounted by bowls modelled as bassinets with angel finials and engraved on one side with the arms of Bridgwater and on the other with a presentation inscription, together with a framed presentation address and the original invoice accounts,

thence to the present owners by descent
The presentation inscription reads:
"Presented by the Aldermen, Councillors, Magistrates and Officers of the Borough of Bridgewater to Alderman F. C. Foster (Mayor) in Commemoration of the Birth of Twin Sons during his Year of Office 1890".
The Western Gazette (5 September 1890) records the event as follows:
"At the Council Chamber, on Tuesday, the Mayor (Alderman F. C. Foster) was the happy recipient of a handsome and valuable pair of epergnes and illuminated address...as a souvenir of the happy event of being presented with twin sons".
