Description
in the form of epaulets, the surface of opaque white enamel decorated with millegrain bands of gold simulating embroidered thread, each epaulet centred with an applied gold cypher of Alexander II and an anchor and rope beneath a rose-gold Imperial double-headed eagle, struck to reverse of each epaulet with workmaster’s initials, 56 standard, the link chain struck with a kokoshnik mark, in its original holly wood case
height 2.2 cm; 7/8 in.
The Thielemann workshop produced small bijouterie in gold and silver, decorated with precious stones and enamel. Faberge’s lesser commissions from the Imperial cabinet, such as brooches, tie pins, cufflinks and jetons were often entrusted to Thielemann. (U.
