A HISTORIC MEXICAN METEORITE WITH OSCAR MONNIG PROVENANCE
This etched slice of the Huizopa meteorite is not only a gorgeous and hefty slice (weighing in at over four pounds), but it has some of the most exceptional provenance of any meteorite, having been in the inventory or collections of some of the most storied names in meteorites: Ward's Natural Science, Oscar Monnig, and Phil Mani.
Pieces of Huizopa are incredibly hard to come by, as they exist mainly in museums or old collections and have often been held there for decades or longer. In addition, Harvey Nininger himself noted that Huizopa was originally found in a prehistoric ruin, and it has been suggested that the building itself was built around the meteorite, possibly for religious or ceremonial purposes.
