Collection of Kishore Chatterjee, Kolkata

Acquired from the above, 2011

Kishore Chatterjee (1938 - 2011) was an Indian artist, writer, singer, music and art critic, and the grandson of Sunayani Devi. Throughout his life, he pursued a wide range of creative interests, producing paintings, essays, poetry, short stories and books on music and art. He was especially respected for his deep knowledge of Western classical music, which he popularised through lectures, radio programs, newspaper columns, films, and publications. Chatterjee's vibrant visual art, marked by imaginative symbolism and vivid colour, reflected the eclectic and humanistic spirit of the artistic tradition he inherited from his family.
