The Lange 1 and its subsequent evolutions undoubtedly represent the collection that best exemplifies not only the rebirth of A. Lange & Söhne, but also that of Saxon watchmaking as a whole. The present iteration of the Lange 1 incorporates a highly practical second time zone function. The main dial with the home time is decentered to the left, featuring a day/night indicator for the home time at the top and a running seconds indication at the bottom. On the right side of the dial, the power reserve indication and large date window are located. A small subdial on the bottom right-hand side indicates the second time zone, along with a day/night indicator for the second timezone. A little arrow in the subdial points to the city ring, denoting the wearer's timezone. The second time zone can be set by activating the pusher at 8 o'clock on the caseband, which also aligns it with the corresponding city, while the date can be adjusted using the pusher at 10 o'clock or by changing the time on the main dial.

This innovative approach lends the watch a subtle “world time” aesthetic while remaining highly functional in everyday use. The present lot was part of an exceptionally rare and seldom-seen debut series, released to select participating retailers on July 8, 2005. These exclusive sets were composed of three pieces each: one in platinum, one in yellow gold, and one in pink gold. We are pleased to offer this exceptional set, complete with all its original accessories.
