With its off‑centered time and subsidiary seconds displays, asymmetrically positioned oversized date, and power‑reserve indicator at 3 o’clock, the model quickly became one of the brand’s most celebrated and enduring creations. Building on this iconic foundation, the Grande Lange 1 expanded the elegant proportions of the original by increasing the case diameter from 38.5mm to 41mm. The present lot is a limited‑edition Grande Lange 1, created exclusively for the Parisian retailer Dubail, paired with a stunning blue mother‑of‑pearl dial.

The Dubail family has long been a supporter of A. Lange & Söhne, and it is exceptionally rare for the manufacture to create a special edition for a retailer, underscoring the importance of this partnership. Adding to its exclusivity, the retailer’s name is engraved on the caseback.

Furthermore, mother‑of‑pearl is an exceptionally delicate and challenging material to work with, requiring careful selection, cutting, and finishing. Its natural iridescence shifts under changing light, and because each shell is unique, no two dials share the same pattern.
