Released in 2016, The Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Moon Phase & Retrograde Date ref. 4010U is the embodiment of the manufacture’s commitment to restrained elegance, refined complication and classical watchmaking. Inspired by Vacheron Constantin designs of the 1950s, the reference combines timeless aesthetics with one of the manufacture’s most visually distinctive complications, the retrograde date display. Housed in a bold 42.5mm 18k white gold case, the watch balances contemporary proportions with unmistakably classical design language.
Powering the watch is the in-house automatic calibre 2460 R31L, a finely finished movement bearing the prestigious Poinçon de Genève and fitted with a 22K gold oscillating weight decorated with Vacheron Constantin’s signature barleycorn guilloché motif. Large retrograde displays like the one in this watch are notoriously complicated due to the significant amount of torque required during each reset at the end of the month.
