The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Perpetual Calendar Chronograph ref. 25854ST represents one of the earliest and most important complicated Offshore references produced during the formative years of the collection. At a time when perpetual calendars and chronographs were still largely confined to classical precious metal cases, Audemars Piguet took the bold step of integrating one of watchmaking’s most prestigious complication combinations into the aggressively modern design of the Royal Oak Offshore. The result was a watch that helped redefine what haute horlogerie could look like at the turn of the millennium.
The 42mm stainless steel case retains all the defining characteristics of the early Offshore watches, combining Gérald Genta’s original Royal Oak design language with a far more muscular and contemporary presence created by Emmanuel Gueit. The blue “Méga Tapisserie” dial is particularly striking, balancing an impressive amount of information through its perpetual calendar and chronograph registers while still remaining remarkably cohesive and visually balanced.
Today, collectors increasingly view these early complicated Offshore references as historically important pieces that bridge traditional Audemars Piguet watchmaking with the brand’s modern identity. Collectors believe that no more than 50 examples of this reference were ever made, with the present case number '31' originating from Beverly Hills, California and is accompanied by its original winding box, booklets and Certificate of Origin, as well as Attestation document from Audemars Piguet confirming its production in 2000, their 125th anniversary. The watch is presented in exceptional condition, with only minor signs or wear.
