This exceptionally rare Patek Philippe Calatrava reference 2543 sits with great presence on the wrist and is believed to be the first example ever offered at public auction.
Its two-piece yellow gold case, made by Dubois & Cie of Le Locle (casemaker no. 170), houses a striking two-tone silvered dial produced by Stern Frères. The dial is distinguished by applied gold baton hour markers, complemented by gold Arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9, and further enhanced by an engraved semi-circular design running along the inner track of the hour markers.
Closely related to the equally rare reference 2544, of which only four examples are known, the present reference is set apart by its more pronounced, thicker engraved sunken circle and different lugs, lending it a distinct depth and visual presence.
