Introduced in 2025, the Daniel Roth Extra Plat Souscription marks the second chapter in the revival of the celebrated independent watchmaker, following the Tourbillon Souscription. Limited to just 20 pieces, it pays tribute to the Extra Plat watches created by Daniel Roth in the early 1990s, retaining his unmistakable double ellipse case. Crafted in 3N yellow gold, the case measures 35.5 mm across and just 7.7 mm thick, preserving the beautifully restrained proportions of the original design.

Individually numbered 18 of 20, the present example is distinguished by its solid yellow gold dial, decorated with exquisite Clous de Paris guilloché executed entirely in house at La Fabrique du Temps. Requiring nearly two days of meticulous work by a single master guillocheur using restored historical machinery, the dial beautifully illustrates the traditional craftsmanship at the heart of the revived Maison. A brushed chapter ring with blue Roman numerals provides a striking contrast to the intricate geometric decoration, while thermally blued hands complete the composition. The solid yellow gold case back, engraved “Numero 18”, recalls the closed case backs of Daniel Roth’s earliest Extra Plat creations. In keeping with the Souscription tradition, the individual number is also reproduced on the dial and movement, linking all three elements to this particular watch.

At its heart is the manually wound calibre DR002, developed specifically for the Extra Plat at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton under the direction of Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini. More than a reinterpretation of an iconic design, the Extra Plat Souscription brings together the distinctive aesthetic of Daniel Roth’s early independent work with the craftsmanship of its modern revival. Offered in excellent condition and accompanied by its full set of original accessories, the present example beautifully preserves the spirit of the original while celebrating a new chapter in the Maison’s history.
