To commemorate what is widely regarded as one of the most iconic luxury sports wristwatches of modern times, Patek Philippe released two limited-edition models celebrating the 40th anniversary of the legendary Nautilus. Both timepieces featured a distinctive dial embossed with “1976–40–2016,” marking four decades of this celebrated design. Among them was the Nautilus reference 5976G, a chronograph with date display, notable for its bold 44mm white gold case. It remains the largest case ever introduced in the Nautilus collection, setting it apart as a true statement piece.
This bold case size sets the reference apart, but its the dial that truly captures the imagination of Patek Philippe connoisseurs. For the first time, a commemorative date was inscribed on the classic ribbed sunburst blue dial, adding historical depth to its aesthetic appeal. Enhancing its elegance further, the dial is adorned with ten baguette-cut diamond hour markers, totaling approximately 0.29 carats.
Released in 2016 as a limited edition of just 1,300 pieces, this commemorative timepiece was offered exclusively to Patek Philippe’s most loyal and supportive clients around the world.
