Over the years, the Basculante has become a fan-favourite within the Cartier collecting sphere, thanks to its instantly recognisable reversible case, which flips vertically instead of the more common “reverso” style horizontal mechanism. The present watch belongs to the “Pre-CPCP” yellow gold batch, easily recognisable as the blue cabuchon is placed at the bottom end of the case, and with Paris signature above 6 o’clock. Though not strictly part of a limited edition, this batch is far more seldom seen than the CPCP editions which followed at the turn of the century.
