A truly sophisticated timepiece, the Saxonia Double Split Flyback introduced in 2004 was the world’s first flyback chronograph featuring a double rattrapante mechanism. It boasts four chronograph hands, two of which are designed for a distinctive 30-minute register. Notably, both the chronograph and rattrapante hands are capable of flying back.
When the chronograph begins, pressing the button at ten o’clock stops the rattrapante hand, allowing it to separate from the main chronograph hand to record an initial time, enabling the tracking of multiple laps. The main chronograph hand continues to run, and another press of the left-hand case pusher allows the rattrapante hand to catch up with the main chronograph hand.
The precise mechanism is powered by A. Lange & Söhne’s very own calibre L001.1, which features 465 stunning components, all visible through the sapphire crystal display back, exemplifying the brand's exquisite craftsmanship. With a beautifully balanced and impressive dial design, this Double Split is encased in platinum, making a striking presence on the wrist and is in near-new condition.
