Daniel Roth was instrumental in the revival of traditional Swiss watchmaking during the late 20th century, championing high-quality mechanical timepieces at a time when the industry faced significant challenges. After joining Breguet in 1976, he helped restore the brand’s focus on the legacy of Abraham-Louis Breguet, contributing to the creation of several landmark references that became icons of modern horology.
In 1988, Roth launched his own brand with a commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and classical watchmaking principles, distinguished by his signature double-ellipse case design. Following The Hour Glass's acquisition of a majority stake in 1994, the brand expanded its reach while maintaining Roth’s involvement and standards. Produced during this six-year Roth-Hour Glass period, the present watch features a chronograph and date display powered by the calibre 400, derived from the renowned El Primero movement. Its stainless steel case and elegant salmon dial combine technical excellence with timeless style.
