According to available research, the present lot was gifted to Hayward Malcolm Hutchinson (1831-1883) in 1875, who was a manager of the Alaska Commercial Company. It was sold through Galt Bros. of Washington, D.C., one of Patek Philippe's leading American retailers in the late nineteenth century. The watch possesses appealing historical and familial provenance.
