The present watch appears to be the only currently known Charles Frodsham split-seconds chronograph fitted with a 6-minute flying tourbillon carriage. Interestingly, while the case is hallmarked to 1904, the address engraved on the backplate corresponds to premises occupied by Charles Frodsham & Co. only from 1915 onward, and the movement serial number suggests a completion date of approximately 1917. This discrepancy indicates that Frodsham most likely reused an earlier case, a practice not uncommon for high-quality precious-metal cases. Indeed, another Frodsham watch of a similar serial range is known to exhibit a comparable mismatch between the dates of its case and movement. Unfortunately, as the firm's workbooks for this period have not survived and the watch was never submitted for examination at Kew Observatory, it is not possible to determine its early history with greater certainty. Nevertheless, the watch has been preserved in excellent condition, further enhancing its appeal as an exceptionally rare and important example of Charles Frodsham's horological achievements.
