According to the archives of Montres Breguet, watch no. 2753, described as a "chronograph, minute repeater, perpetual calendar, and moon-phase" timepiece and bearing case no. 18467, was completed in 1897 and sold to Monsieur Angelici on 6 February 1897 for 3,800 francs.
Particularly fascinating is the fact that the Breguet workbooks record the watch returning to the manufacture for servicing on several occasions throughout its lifetime. These entries document its ownership by Monsieur Angelici of Colombes, near Paris, with the last recorded service taking place in 1918, providing a rare and continuous glimpse into the history of the watch during its early years.
Housed in a substantial and impressively sized heavy gold case, the present watch exemplifies the technical sophistication and craftsmanship for which Breguet was renowned at the end of the nineteenth century. Preserved in excellent condition, it serves as a remarkable example of the high-grade complicated timepieces produced by the House of Breguet during this golden era of watchmaking.
