A legendary publication in the history of personal computing, BYTE signaled a cultural revolution and growing enthusiasm in computers. Their identification as a “Small Systems Journal” emphasized their departure from the larger mainframe computers, specifying microcomputers and the community building around them. Unlike other publications, they covered a broad array of subjects related to computers for both hobbyists and professionals.
Established by publisher Wayne Green and Editor Carl T. Holmers, Jr. in 1975, BYTE was an instant success with the first issue selling 15,000 copies. Each issue featured a variety of articles covering tutorials, homebuilds, book and product reviews and comparisons, as well as general commentary on the industry and community at large. The pages of these first fifteen issues feature illustrations and insights into the vibrant personal computer community in its infancy.
This lot also contains two rarely-seen hardcover volumes collecting these first fifteen issues of BYTE.
