Description

Designed as gardenias pavé set with round diamonds, the leaves applied with green enamel, maker's mark for Oscar Heyman & Brothers, numbered.

Founded by two brothers from Eastern Europe with an American dream, Oscar Heyman & Brothers was established in New York in 1912. Renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail, the firm earned the sobriquet “the jeweler’s jeweler,” producing pieces of the highest quality for both private clientele and several leading maisons. Their position among the foremost American jewelry houses was firmly established by 1939, when they manufactured jewels for four of the five retailers featured at the New York World’s Fair.

It was during this period that the house introduced its famed ‘Gardenia.’ While florals have long served as a source of inspiration in jewelry, Oscar Heyman’s interpretation is distinguished by its remarkable naturalism and technical precision. Here, sculptural petals are finely set with diamonds, while the waxy enameled leaves create a convincing sense of depth and lifelike form—qualities that have ensured the design’s continued production through the present day.
