Camilo Otero (1932–2003) was a Galician sculptor who first trained in Spain, then in Barcelona, before settling permanently in Paris in 1961. A versatile artist, he worked in sculpture, drawing, painting, engraving, ceramics, and even jewelry design.

He worked with many materials (wood, stone, marble, bronze, ceramics) and often favored direct carving, giving his works a refined and structured style.

His artistic language oscillates between stylized figuration, expressionism, and Cubist influences, with a marked taste for fragmentation, animal motifs, and vertical or archaic forms.

He created both small-scale sculptures and monumental works, including several public commissions in France. Among his well-known works:

  • Cheval Cabré (1980), Place Lucien Herr in Paris
  • Pasionaria (1971), in Santiago de Compostela

Considered in Galicia as a modernizer of sculpture, his work continues to be exhibited and rediscovered after his death
