Glowing dark amber colour. Wonderful caramelised oranges bouquet. Touch of cloves and sweet ginger. Warm, spicy and tempting. Grand, classic, monumental nose - "une référence", as the French say. Beautiful caramel and crème brûlée on the palate, with glorious acidity. Toast and dried apricots. Like a celestial breakfast! It continues to show its classicism, with a Cognac topaz colour and a bouquet that is a mosaic of minerality, violets and cloves, turning to caramel. A real salty tang to it which can happen with a mature Yquem. It lasts forever on the palate. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
