Description
Château d'Yquem 1953
Sauternes, 1er Grand Cru Classé
u. h/ms, bin-soiled, heavily damp-stained label, heavily torn label obscuring vintage, oxidized and corroded capsule, cut capsule revealing vintage and Château branded cork, Provenance: Sherry-Lehmann with Sotheby's, May 16, 1997, Lot 859, Fine and Rare Wines
This has amazingly low sugar for Yquem (71g) but high alcohol (14.4%). Unbelievably fragrant bouquet of orange blossom and heather in flower. Tarry/sweet taste. A touch of salt in there too, as one sometimes sees in mature vintages. Raisins finish, rich and lingering. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
